The Irreducible Role of the Holy Spirit
Lost focus on the third person of the Trinity
Curriculum, tools, methods, skills, giftings, resources… we are often told these are the keys to effective disciplemaking (including, maybe by us!). Yet Jesus promised his followers that it would be better for us if he left, because the Holy Spirit would then come. In a church culture that either over-emphasizes the Holy Spirit to the detriment of human involvement and agency, or de-emphasizes the Holy Spirit as an overcorrection, how can we more accurately understand, view, and experience the Holy Spirit’s role in disciplemaking?
