Renewing the Reach Evangelism Network

I don’t think there are many followers of Jesus who would say that sharing His message is not important. In fact, we have all heard the biblical mandate that Jesus left us with before His ascension. His final words to His disciples were,

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

- Matthew 28:18b-20, ESV

Jesus didn’t leave much room for questioning what He meant. The verbs are clear and evident: Go / Make Disciples / Baptize / Teach. Evangelism and discipleship are necessary. Not only that, but we’ve been tasked with the same mission that Jesus Himself carried out while He walked the earth. The great news is that He Himself has promised to be ‘with us’ always, even "to the end of the age”!

How could we not share this Story of all stories? The reality is that our good and gracious Creator God and Father has demolished every obstacle to bring us to Himself. The life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ is the most incredible Story ever told. Life with God is the greatest adventure anyone could ever dare to dream, or ask, for!

Years ago, the Palau Association helped launch the Reach Evangelism Team (eTeam) here in Greater Columbus. This collaborative team was tasked with being a resource for believers in sharing the Gospel. Those involved had the opportunity to share ideas and resources, engage in collaborative evangelism initiatives, and produce a local training resource called the ‘Art of Evangelism’ which is still available for use.

For Columbus is now seeking the Lord’s leading to usher in a new season for the Reach Team Network, asking for a renewed vision and new team members (ministries, orgs, and individuals). This team will develop clear, creative, and courageous strategies to encourage and empower the Church of Columbus in sharing the Gospel across Greater Columbus. If you, your org/ministry, or church are interested in getting involved, please email For Columbus Networks Director, Rev. Shane Tucker at shane[at]forcolumbus[dot]org.

With all of the exciting stories coming in about people seeking Jesus in record numbers, “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Let’s see what the Lord will do for His people across our great city as we band together to tell His Story!
