Worship Network Relaunches

In June, we relaunched the For Columbus Worship Network! In the past, we had a similar cohort model that was primarily focused on worship leaders throughout the city. This iteration of the network is inclusive of worship leaders, musicians, and vocalists who serve in their local churches. We were blessed to be hosted by the 104.9 The River radio station, whose hospitality and desire to bless our citywide worship community was a true gift.

When we gathered, we shared four things that we hope this network will provide: spaces to Worship, Connect, Collaborate, and Learn. At this first gathering, we experienced all four. We had around 50 people show up, arriving early and staying late to connect around a potluck-style dinner. Leaders and musicians from five different churches collaborated in leading a worship circle that lasted nearly three hours, blending both structured and spontaneous expressions of worship. Together, we worshiped through song, prayer, and ministry. We also took time to learn about what it means to model the heart posture of worship through the example of John the Baptist. Like John, our calling is to prepare the way of the Lord—to create pathways for people in our churches and throughout our city to encounter and connect with Jesus.

We believe that God is doing a work that is not unique to Columbus, but is connected to a larger movement taking place throughout the Church. People are hungry to not lead alone or do this work in siloed, disconnected, or self-serving ways. It was beautiful to see people come together with vulnerability and a genuine desire to be connected, to bless one another, and to help each other flourish.

We ask that you would continue praying for what God is doing and invite your worship community to join us as we do this work together. As we move forward, we hope to continue creating consistent opportunities to Worship, Connect, Collaborate, and Learn. We are excited about the community that is being formed around the united Church of Jesus here in Columbus—for Columbus and for the sake of the gospel.
